About NSS:

The National Service Scheme (NSS) operates under the powerful motto, “Not Me, But You” emphasizing selfless service and community development. The NSS aims to inspire student volunteers to cultivate personal growth, nurture leadership qualities, and build a healthier environment for present and future generations.

At Theni Kammavar Sangam College of Arts and Science, one dynamic NSS unit, Unit 236 is thriving under the guidance of dedicated programme officers, Mr.M.MURUGAN. This unit boasts an impressive strength of 100 volunteers who actively participate in diverse initiatives. The NSS activities are structured into two primary dimensions

Regular Activities:

Throughout the academic year, volunteers engage in regular activities within the college and community. These activities focus on promoting health, hygiene, education, environmental awareness, and social responsibility. Workshops, awareness rallies, blood donation camps, and community clean-up drives are a few examples of the initiatives undertaken.

Seven-Day Special Camp:

Each year, a special camp is organized in adopted villages where volunteers immerse themselves in service. These camps focus on rural development, including activities such as tree plantation, sanitation drives, skill development programs, and interactive sessions with villagers to address social issues.

Vision

The vision is to build the youth with the mind and spirit to serve the society and work for the social uplift of the down-trodden masses of our nation as a movement.

Mission

The National Service Scheme has been functioning with the motto “NOT ME BUT YOU” in view of making the youth inspired in service of the people and hence NSS Aims Education through Community Service and Community Service through Education

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS) are:
  • ✨ Understand the community in which they work
  • ✨ Understand themselves in relation to their community
  • ✨ Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
  • ✨ Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
  • ✨ Utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems
  • ✨ Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities
  • ✨Gain skills in mobilising community participation
  • ✨ Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes
  • ✨ Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and
  • ✨ Practice national integration and social harmony
