The National Service Scheme (NSS) operates under the powerful motto, “Not Me, But You” emphasizing selfless service and community development. The NSS aims to inspire student volunteers to cultivate personal growth, nurture leadership qualities, and build a healthier environment for present and future generations.
At Theni Kammavar Sangam College of Arts and Science, one dynamic NSS unit, Unit 236 is thriving under the guidance of dedicated programme officers, Mr.M.MURUGAN. This unit boasts an impressive strength of 100 volunteers who actively participate in diverse initiatives. The NSS activities are structured into two primary dimensions
Throughout the academic year, volunteers engage in regular activities within the college and community. These activities focus on promoting health, hygiene, education, environmental awareness, and social responsibility. Workshops, awareness rallies, blood donation camps, and community clean-up drives are a few examples of the initiatives undertaken.
Each year, a special camp is organized in adopted villages where volunteers immerse themselves in service. These camps focus on rural development, including activities such as tree plantation, sanitation drives, skill development programs, and interactive sessions with villagers to address social issues.
The vision is to build the youth with the mind and spirit to serve the society and work for the social uplift of the down-trodden masses of our nation as a movement.
The National Service Scheme has been functioning with the motto “NOT ME BUT YOU” in view of making the youth inspired in service of the people and hence NSS Aims Education through Community Service and Community Service through Education
